MCC Chardonnay 2014 Wildehurst Wines

Wildehurst Methodé Cap Classique Chardonnay 2014

 

Whole bunched pressed Chardonnay that underwent a cool, slow first fermentation in stainless steel.

Bottled under crown cap and kept on the lees for three years before disgorging.  A fine mousse with a crisp acidity and delicate citrus bouquet balanced with an elegant brioche character that creates an exquisite complexity.

Wildehurst Methodé Cap Classique 2016

 

Whole bunched pressed Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay from the Swartland that underwent a cool, slow first fermentation in stainless steel.

Blended and bottled under crown cap and kept on the lees for two years before disgorging. Exhibits a fine mousse with a crisp acidity and delicate baked apple bouquet.

Blend: 56% Chenin Blanc, 44% Chardonnay

Wildehurst Methodé Cap Classique Cinsaut 2017

 

Whole bunch pressed Cinsaut that was immediately taken of the skins and underwent a cool, slow wild fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Kept on the lees for twelve months before disgorging.  Zero dosage was added during the final stage of bottling.

A unique expression of Cinsaut with a fine mouse and a firm acidity. Delicate pink lady apples and a Muscat bouquet carries through to the pallet.

Blend: 100% Cinsaut

Wildehurst Red 2014

 

After vinification the components were individually barrel matured for 18 months before blending resulting in a well structured unpretentious wine.

Dark berry hues and spicy white pepper intermingle with characteristic Swartland floral aromas. In the mouth the wine is fresh with a young richness and distinct stony minerality.

Wildehurst Chenin Blanc 2017

 

Fruit harvested from 30 year-old bush vines. Undergone a natural, slow two-month fermentation until dry in third-fill barrels. Matured on the lees for a further five months.

Shows grapefruit and lemony tones on the nose, followed through with a sweet, mineral backbone and pineapple flavours.

Wildehurst Viognier 2018

 

Grapes sourced from selected vineyards in the Swartland.  Fermented in old 225L French oak barrels and matured on the lees for six months after fermentation.

Beautiful aromas of orange blossom and pear with hints of stone fruit are abundant on the pallet.  A firm acidity and well-rounded mouth feel adds a touch of elegance to this single cultivar wine.

The Wilde Le Premier Or 2018

 

Bush vine Semillon destemmed upon arrival at the cellar.  Skin contact was allowed for three days before pressing off.  The juice was wild fermented in an old 300L French oak barrel and matured on the lees for six months after fermentation.

Elegant aromas of capsicum, green peppercorn and white pepper are abundant and carries through to the pallet.  Embodies a firm acidity and beautiful textured mouth feel.  An excellent companion to food.

Blend: 100% Semillon

Velo Red 2014

 

Each cultivar was individually vinified and barrel matured, expertly blended to produce a midsummer’s dream of ripe cherry and forest berries balanced with a hint of perfume.

Velo Rosé 2018

 

A 100% Cinsaut rosé produced from 30 years old, dryland, bush vines in the heart of the Swartland.  The grapes were harvested in the early morning and pressed immediately without allowing any time for skin contact.  It went through a cool fermentation using wild yeast in a stainless-steel tank.

Exudes beautiful Turkish delight and red fruit flavours that linger on the palate, balanced with a fresh acidity.

Blend:  100% Cinsaut

Velo Blanc 2016

 

An unwooded white blend with aromas of pears, litchis and nectarines.

A fresh acidity and well roundedmouth feeladds a touch of elegance to the tropical fruit flavours.

Grapes harvested from old dry land bush vines, fermented using wild yeast and kept on the skins for extended post maceration.  Barrel matured in old French oak barrels for 10 months.

The wine delivers a bouquet of luscious, juicy red currents and cranberries with hints of warm, sweet spices that add to the complexity of the pallet.  A well balanced, well-rounded wine with silky smooth tannins and a firm acidity.

The Wilde 2017 –  SOLD OUT

 

Nebbiolo grapes sourced from a special vineyard in the Breedekloof were used to create this unique gem!  Fermented using wild yeast, the wine was kept on the skins for extended post maceration and barrel matured for 10 months in an old French oak barrel.

A perfumed bouquet of succulent strawberries and sour cherries balanced with a touch of spice.  The wine exudes a feminine elegance with silky smooth, well integrated tannins and a long luxurious aftertaste.

 

Blend: 100% Nebbiolo
